| Hey guys,
I have been trying to teach myself how to code, so I decided to make a website to practice. It's a pretty simple site where you can post trades and whatnot. It's pretty basic and probably has a lot of bugs, but you should definitely check it out and give me any suggestions you have!
The address is: http://www.fantasitrade.com
Things I am still working on: - Creating a chat client and comment system that use the person's website username. - Filtering by more criteria, type, skill, etc. - Mobile site version. - Page system for units, rather than one huge list. - Custom banner/visual improvements
Please check it out and let me know what you think!
Also I was hoping I could link to these forums in the menu bar, could a mod let me know whether or not that would be allowed? Also if anyone out there is interested in coding and wants to help with the site, send me a PM!

| Also if you wouldn't mind posting a trade that would be awesome, a lot of empty card pages I'm trying to fill up. | |

| i like the concept, but imo, i dont think its a good idea. people are just gonna undercut them of 1 te to be the cheapest and its going to kill the market completly on the long term.

Well I was hoping it would actually be a way to find a fair price, this way people won't be getting ripped off by paying way too much or way too little because they will be able to see what's out there and what the equilibrium price looks like. That being said, I did have the same concern as you, so I added a feature where it is sorted by most recent rather than price, and only the most recent 30 are shown on the Unit's page, so that makes it a lot harder to undercut people. Thanks for your input by the way, I appreciate it!

| oh that is a great feature! that solve somewhat the problem! The other problem i can see is peoplee creating fake/alt account with ridiculously low price to drop the value of a card. i can see someone easely creating a couple of alt account for that ( even with real id from the game, their fake alt or something, scammer are popular for that. The solution i can see is is everything older than a few day get automatically removed, like everything older then 3 or 5 day or so. it can still happen, but it will be more of an assle to maintain a fake low price for scammer. Maybe add a button on the side of the add that people can click and comment, for exemple if someone try to buy a card but the guy never reply, you can put a comment and say that this person dont answer when you ask to buy the card. Or positive comment to say that you bought the card. Or a user page directly where people can comment on the seller. Btw, it would be really great if it ended up working. I'll think about what could be done to make it better for everyone, i'm thinking about some type of auction house style with invisible price like in the MMORPG ffxi if you played it. I'll send a PM with detail sometime this week.. and you just tell me what you think then. its all just suggestion though, dont get me too negatively, i would love this to work! edit: on dumb me, i just saw the part for comment in the user pages! great!! :D | |

| Thanks for all the great input and suggestions. At the bottom of every Unit page and User page I do have a comment section just for that type of thing, so people can leave comments about the user (as well as things like offering trades, etc.), it also will alert me when a comment is made so if I get a lot of bad comments about someone I can remove their posts/account. I have been working on a "report" feature as well to make it more streamlined, but I have a bunch of other stuff I will probably do first.
I hope to hear back from you, appreciate any ideas/suggestions/feedback you have to give.

| Great site for sure! One thing I noticed though is that that actual window for trading is a bit...iffy. If you want to select a card, it shows all trades for that specific card and a comment section for all of them. If you go to the person's individual trade, it shows all of their current trades rather than a the single card. Might be nice to have a page/comments section per trade as well as remove the comment section from the Active trades for <this> card pages. Personal preference and a bit less confusing. However you set up the site, it might be nice appearance wise to look into some java lightbox or fancy box things for the pictures (images when clicked pop up instead of changing url). Also would be nice to get the back of the cards if you get around to to it. I like it so far | |

| Thanks, good suggestions on the comments, I think you are probably right about removing the comments from the active trade tab.
And I agree, one of the things on my to-do list is find a way for the picture to "pop out" when you mouse over them.

| Another idea if you want is to tune up the creation process. As in when selling a unit, you could have a search bar and a player starts typing in the name and selects from a list. As of now, Units are being split not just based on spelling, but by caps as well. Mina shows as a different card then mina.
One is to change the program so whether it is caps or not is not relevant. Another is a list that I spoke of. However if you do the list, then you will either have to a) keep site updated ASAP or b) still include a way to type in the name.

| That's a good idea, I have been getting a ton of great ideas and errors. Someone brought it to my attention that the edit units pages aren't working so I'm going to fix that first thing when I get home from work. | |

| Small updates:
- Fixed editor page, now seems to be working properly. - Fixed some page redirects, possibly still more out there. - Nearly completed autocomplete, testing and working out kinks before upload.

| Great idea! Almost wish I had the idea before you :p. Here's a few comments coming from a web programmer after using it a bit :
I would suggest that you look into making the html/css responsive and/or use media queries to make it work better on tables and phones. Small comment/bug : could you either make the urls non case sensitive or autocorrect to uppercase the first letter ? Wrote everything in lowercase and was surprised that http://fantasitrade.com/ActiveTrades?Name=Holly and http://fantasitrade.com/ActiveTrades?Name=holly were not the same. Also, could you show the pagination (see more recent posts) when you're in the last x page ?
Thanks! | |

| Yep all good ideas, I have been doing a few fixes and whatnot but I won't have a ton of time for the next few days, have a four day weekend off work coming up though so I plan on doing a ton of work then. | |

| Well haven't gotten the autofill working yet, but I made a workaround to standardize the naming so anything submitted will automatically format to having the first letter of each word uppercase and the subsequent letters lowercase. | |

| Right now the css seems broken. Invalid permissions on http://fantasitrade.com/Content/css/?v=B0rHbJ8Nb7qKUpAcfQFHYCxJC3UtahE0vwElzqM1yik1. Btw, if you need any helping hosting/programming or anything else, just ask =) | |

| Where are you going that you get that error?
And I am always happy to have people help with the programming, do you have any experience with ASP.NET/C#/MVC? This is my first MVC site, the framework is pretty pretty awesome, has a ton of upsides but sometimes makes relatively simple problems a huge pain to fix.

| I just did a view source to see the css because it seems to not load correctly for me and got : <link href="/Content/css?v=B0rHbJ8Nb7qKUpAcfQFHYCxJC3UtahE0vwElzqM1yik1" rel="stylesheet"/> Hmmm I did a bit of C#.net, but not enough to be useful. To tell you the truth, I hate everything windows/microsoft. I'm an open source linux/php/python/ruby/javascript guy hehe | |

| Yeah PHP and Python were my two first languages, I like them but I work in ASP.NET for my job so I have a lot more practice with it, and I want to get some experience with MVC. | |
