I'm trying to this collect data so we can have a better understanding of or feel how the matching system works in detail. I've read BkWiz's thread (http://www.fantasicaunofficial.com/t9160-guild-event-mechanics-match-up-portion-complete). I believe him that the number of wins is the biggest parameter in match up system, because our guild went against guilds with the same win count last GW. However, it has not been proven or theorized that rank/gp points is definitely not a parameter in one way or another. It is however 100% certain that you are not matched with an opponent next to you in rank.

Suggested some extra questions. Are the questions about units and active members necessary?

I reckon we would know if you won or lost going by the final score, so that was not necessary, but it is convenient. I didn't add the opponent's rank, because most of us won't know their rank, but if you do know, then by all means add this detail.

I added the units and active members questions, because it could give us an impression of how strong the other guild was compared to your guild, so we have an indication whether they gave up, were outclassed or if you were evenly matched.

I understand that this is also sensitive information, so if you don't want to convey this information, then I'd totally understand. However, even if you know my Game ID, you still don't know in what guild I am, so it's not that revealing (unless you're widely popular).

For now, the thing that strikes me is that both a rank 150 and rank 35 guild were matched with significantly tougher opponents, as early as in the 2nd and 3rd battle. And that while my guild had 4 wins and faced a near empty guild on our 5th battle. The same can be said about the other match ups: low rank, not so tough opponents on paper.

Coincidence? Time will tell, so we need more input from you guys.

This is because rank does not dictate whom you face. It's purely based on the number of wins.

Check this page. It explains how matches are planned.

Rank is only for visual purposes as to whom is closer to the prizes at hand. They do not dictate who is stronger or weaker, only report those who had more succesfull attacks and/or used more tonics/potions to achieve victory. So a team of 9 friends with 2 7* each may be casual and only do the minimum wage to get the 6*, or even the 7* with minimum wager, while a 6* could be spending like crazy to attempt the ranking's 7*.

Still, not to deviate from the topic, i'll bring a battle of mine as well.

@Vaati, the thing that striked me is that those with ranks around 400-700 (and 0 losses) had significantly easier battles, compared to the 2 entries with rank 150 and 35 (and 0 losses). They got extremely tough opponents in very early battles. Call me crazy, but I do see a hint of correlation between rank and match up at this point. But still, this can very well be a coincidence, so I'll be cautious at this point with drawing any hard conclusions. We need more data.

Thanks for the input Jasper! Your second battle wasn't easy and to me it's not a surprise that your rank is so high, r43. You third to fifth battles were relatively easy because you had a loss already, and with that dropped down a bracket.

Just be careful in what you call 'early'. There are currently only 2 undefeated guilds right now (AFAIK). This is after battle 12.

Which means that 5 battles ago, there were roughly 128 undefeated guilds (after battle 7). That's not a large number.

That said it would make sense for them to subdivide the top (undefeated) bracket into rankers and non-rankers so that no one 'lucked' into the top bracket. However, the speed at which the undefeated bracket shrinks could make this unnecessary (although there may be implications for how quickly one gets knocked into the 1 and 2-loss brackets).

I've based above post on below 2 entries, which are the 2nd and 3rd battle. Following your calculation, there were roughly 4096 and 2048 undefeated guilds at those points, so I'd say that's early. Jasper's post about his 2nd battle is agreeing with this trend, since they were ranked 43rd.

Would like to note that two enemy members essentially cannoned the entire time, swapping off 1-unit defense, and had a total of over 2.8m and 2m points. The others were attacking occasionally, but didn't get many points.

Wondering if things are really starting to kick up. Burned through 10 pots, though I spent about half of them attacking and the rest on full-team defense. We would have lost without a full team blocking, which was quite amazing given that they were basically using 1-unit defenses while cannoning at the same time, having pushes every few minutes.

Our ranking also jumped up about 80 ranks after this fight.

Not sure if my input here is helpful, but I'm interested in seeing whether or not there's a point in which we start getting matched with easier opponents, before getting 23 wins.

@relaystration, any data is good, the more te better, even if it's not immediatly useable.

I'll post mine when I get the chance.

Battle 18 was fairly difficult. Heavy burning on both sides, barely won with 7/9 on each side.

Battles 19 and 20 required almost no burning from our team. Enemies did not have as high-rarity leaders, but there was an unknown Partenope lead in battle 19 and a Camelot lead in battle 20. Don't think there's much worth mentioning here besides the fact that the battles were unusually easy.

(I'm posting battle 20 results before the end because it's that much of a runaway win.)

There's not much you can do but hope your next match will be easier.

There can be multiple teams with the same name. There's at least twoSuper Rangers teams that I've seen.
