I made a website for Fantasica!

Phew fixed it, I hope too many people weren't scared away while it was messed up.

Good work!  I thought my Internet was slow or something, so I went off to grind Lilith!

Updates for today:

- Added paging to index, seems to be working good.

Next step:

- Adding paging to Unit Pages and User Profiles.
- Increasing search/filter functionality (search/filter by class, rank, price, etc.)

Great job so far, it is coming along nicely Although I can't help with coding so much, as I only know a bit of C++ and html5, I can help with the design or any graphics you need. I am a graphic designer in training XD SHoot me a message if you want anything special to be made

I just noticed that the lion Bernhard has been repeated twice, however one of the Bernhard's says his skill is Slow while the other isn't.

Better make sure the Slow skilled Bernhard loses the 'h' in the name.

Just wondering if you've noticed that.

Oh whoops, yeah someone reported that there were two Bernhards earlier today, I meant to remove one but I must have accidentally changed his skill haha. The good news is clicking either one will take you to a page for both so it shouldn't matter too much, sometimes when I was adding units I would lose track of which ones had been added, so there are bound to be a couple others that are doubled up.

How are you liking the new layout so far? I'm not really big on design so I figured I would get some of it out of the way so I can get back to coding this weekend.

edit: Just now realized what you were saying, looks like I added an extra 'h' to Bernard lol.. fixed..

Looks great to me. I'm not into appearances much as long as the site works the way it wants to.

I did have issues with editing prices (won't allow me to save an edit on the price when I added the letters 'TE' after the numbers, making it show TE twice in the TE column) before the update but that doesn't matter now, since it's been resolved now.

It would be nice to have a history log of every action you do on your profile, but that's more of a personal idea.... or a fussy man's dream...

Other that than, you're doing alright.

Are you still having problems with editing or is it fixed? Had some issues before but did a lot of updates to hopefully straighten it all out.

Also one of the things I have on my to-do list is to chance the formatting so people can post other criteria for trades (how much TE/Pots/Luna/Feeders, etc.) but there's a bunch of other stuff on the list so who knows when I can do that.

Currently next on the list is getting advanced filtering/searching done so people can search and filter by class, skill, rating, etc.

Nah, not anymore. The editing works fine now. I changed the price for one unit and saved it. Went back to my profile and it reflects the new edit instantly.

Previously, it wasn't saving any edits I make, but I went around that problem by deleting the sale and re-adding it back in.

The filtering work is gonna be fun.

This is looking very nice! I registered and put a few units up for sale without too many problems. The only issue I encountered is the following:

If you put a unit up for sale that was recruited from its monster form, or you put a monster up for sale that can be recruited, there's no way to indicate whether you're selling the unit or the monster. Also when searching for cards for sale, there doesn't appear to be a standard for this case. If I search for Margot I find offers for Margot monsters (not units), but when I search for Hugues I find offers for Hugues units (not monsters).

If you keep up your good work, I'm sure this site will turn into a success! By the way, did you read the idea that memphiskite posted in the Trading Center Public Chat (page 14)? You might be inspired to new ideas from that topic.

The monster thing is a known issue, I have been working on a fix in conjunction with the autofill feature, so typing in "Bergamot" will give you a dropdown option of both "Bergamot" and "Bergamot Monster" to choose from. Again though, I just have such a huge list of things to do it could be a little while haha.

And I have not seen his idea yet, I will check that out now.

Good deal of updates:

- Fixed issue with page size going away when changing page,
- Added paging to Units
- Added filtering by Skill, Type, and Rating to Search/Units page.

More small updates and bug fixes, autocomplete turning out to be way more of a pain then I expected, but hopefully almost done.

If you guys can help me out: no the main page do the search boxes look inline to you or messed up? They look fine to me at home but at work we use IE8 and they are all funky. Wondering if this is a problem for many people or not.

Good idea! I suppose one of the goal is to allow users to search for a unit they want and out comes a list of that card showing ask price and user ID of sellers/buyers, right?

You've definitely come far :3 One thing that might be nice with the filter is if you had a another column for how many are currently being sold. Kind of annoying to have to click the name to figure out if anyone is selling it. Or figure out a way for the search to only include what currently being sold. I feel it's difficult so I have no idea how you would go about it XD Some pictures still do not exist (just use the search all to find them). Still would be nice if there was a way to see the back of the card, although it probably only helpful for new players.

Thanks for the input! And yes that is a really good idea I hadn't even thought of, someone else mentioned that this morning. It's going to be a little tricky because of how the site is set up, but it's definitely possible. Think I will start looking into that now.

Maybe make search available no matter where you are... ie. If I go to your user link in your sig, how do I search from there? Click home or browse THEN search. In my days of web programming I aimed for as few page redirects as possible and made commonly used things on every page.

For your filter thing... Developer Express made some amazingly intricate and easy filtering stuff. Or you could use drop down menus instead of plain text fields.

Personal preference for me but clicking the logo should take to home page... Having a text link to home is way to 1990s for me.

 Thanks for your input, mogman, I really appreciate the constructive criticism. Those were good ideas and quick fixes, added the search to more pages and a link on the logo.

As for the filtering I have been working on an autofill feature to make it a little smoother, as well as helping people spell the name correctly and whatnot when they create a trade, but I have been running into some issues so I haven't implemented it yet.

As the site gets more popular you may want to consider ajax for less loading all over the place and only focused areas would get reloaded. I personally try to have people stay on one page for as long as possible until it logically doesn't make sense to be there... In your case you could almost run the entire site from the home page if you wanted to go really crazy (I know I'm crazy enough to do it... just a matter of lazy ).

For your browse of units, do a nested table for each unit that has someone selling and do a little plus beside to expand down and see those sales. It would be kind of similar to how you do the click of the unit name to navigate to trades for that unit... but you wouldn't have to navigate.

Also, learn how to to do pop out boxes on image clicks and such. I used colorbox with jquery back in the day. It's very easy to add and again prevents navigation or new tab/window stuff.

More great ideas mogman, I especially like the nested tables idea, extremely cool.

Also yeah the popup on image click thing is something I've been working on to, trying to get something working where just hovering over the image will make it pop out so the user can just mouse over to see it when they are browsing through.
