Depends. I used to feed in Leana's shop but otherwise max them and try to sell them during recruitment.

Around 5-6 will max a 4* and 3 will max a 3*

Are there any benefits when feeding units to monsters of keeping them to the same "type"? Like feeding range units to air monsters?
