I've loved this game for several months but it feels less fun to me recently and I see others feeling the same way. Perhaps the reasons people leave the game are quite varied, but are there one or two reasons that drive most people away?

If so, I wonder if as a community, we would want to think about organizing ourselves in some way to make these things better, to impact them in some way, if we can. I don't want this thread to dwell on what's bad, but to see if we can identify one or two things that could be improved and THAT WE AS A GROUP THINK WE MAY BE ABLE TO IMPACT IN SOME WAY.

Perhaps by reaching out to Fanta as a group, or if it is more about how some players are behaving, a positive way that we could counteract that through more collective action that we could organize through the forum.

What do you think?

While I understand that the game caters to spenders and grinders, I get frustrated sometimes because I can't do either one. While I will buy an occational box, I will not spend hundreds of dollars in a week trying to get one card.

Grinding is almost as bad for me since I work for a living. I can't play at work, so I miss 9-10 hours a day of potential grinding time. This puts me at a huge disadvantage in most events. Take the present event for example. Over the weekend I was able to grind 12-14 hours a day, while spending a few pots, and made my way up to rank 790. Monday when I got home I was over 1500. Spent 5 or 6 hours grinding, and got back to 1100. Tuesday when I got home I was over 1900. I hate to even think what my rank will be when I get home today.

While I can appreciate the people putting the time and money into the game get the best rewards. It is frustrating when you know, that no matter what you do, you will be pushed out of the rankings by either a spender or a grinder.

Hi ggorrell. I feel the same way sometimes. I see people brag about being a free player but I feel like as a sometimes-spending player who has to work FT (I often have days where I can't log in for several hours due to work) it's also a disadvantage. It migjt not bother me so much if so many free-but-FT-grinding players weren't so self righteous about it.

Yeah this game is too time consuming. I'm a free player who finds it way too hard to rank even if I grind. So I only try for BT points rewards etc since rank rewards are so easily obtainable after an event. If you take the last event Arcane Atheneum, I tried to make the top 500 for Aqua but it was better to spend that time earning <20 TE to buy Aqua after xD

Going to be semi-active after this event because:

1) I have been grinding quite hard for about 6 major events straight. I need a good long break from it or at least play at a casual pace.
2) there aren't many cards that I want in upcoming events.
3) Too often hard work is not rewarded because random luck. No Epic from 6 SP tickets. Failed Eluit recruit. Zita.

I can't stand how unlucky this game makes me feel. I have been playing since the beginning of this year and only have one (event) 6* to show for it after spending too much $$$ on all the events since I started. I hate how everyone else gets all the 6* and 7* so effortless, it seems (sooo many ridiculous stories of low level players getting Ingrid with a Dream (s) ticket...and similar). When is it my turn to catch a break?

And I totally agree with Abyssight:
"3) Too often hard work is not rewarded because random luck"

I'm not asking Fanta to start throwing 6*/7* units at everyone, but I feel I deserve a little more from a game that I have (despite my ranting) enjoyed and devoted so much to.

The main problem lies with people that have very poor discipline when it comes to gambling systems. Buying card packs in any TCG is essentially a gamble. The RCR is put there to draw out your innate gambling weaknesses. So pulling a 3,000 coin pack can snowball very quickly - because a lot of people want to keep trying & trying until they get the 6*. They either stop when they get a token 5* or they quit the game because they feel cheated by Fanta (and their credit card bill is now awful).

People always feel that just because new players get a 6* on their first 100 coin pull, that they somehow deserve a 6* - because they burnt thousands of mobacoins and failed to get nothing but 3s, 4s and crappy 5s. That's not how this system works, and it sucks - but that's pretty much the business model of every TCG out there. What you can do to avoid random luck is to change your spending strategy - and transition away from gambling on packs. Do the thing that Fanta doesn't encourage you to do - trade in Pots and TEs.

3,000 MC = Roughly USD$30.00

3,000 MC buys you a 10 card pack = You could literally draw 10 rubbish cards. 90% of people do.

3,000 MC buys you 30 Pots or TEs = These automatically have real market value and you can convert them into a bunch of leveled 5*s or convert them into 2:3 ratio trades during events.

So if you belong to the camp of, "I might get lucky and get a USD$150.00 MC value card from a $30.00 pack" - then you will probably end up losing a lot of money. House rules means Fanta has all the advantage when it comes to taking your money and leaving you feeling regretful. It's your cash, so stop feeding Fanta when they've given us a solid community currency that we can buy that has guaranteed value.

I've considered quitting this game seriously won't throw people a bone. I've played marvel heros game that they do, and as a free player I had gotten a 6* cards off free daily packs shockingly enough(and 2 from events), where this game I've never heard of anyone get anything past a 3* off the dailies.
I'll be honest last week I almost chocked as I got a Bernhard from a free premium ticket I think it was the 1st time I got something over a 3* unit off one.

Even the events on that game were no where near as a ludicrous grinds or cash sinks as this game. Also you could even upgrade units it would have been nice if we get say 2 4*'s to fuse them to a 5*(etc same with the 5*'s and 6*'s)
Even this event with how many units are possible rewards they could have spread them out some more like Blanche down to 500th place or so. For all the hours, and potions I blew in it I'll get a whole premium ticket, and potion(p) couldn't even give a 4* ticket, and normal potion...
I'm not even really looking forward to the upcoming recruitment event as I don't even want to imagine how many soul stones I gotta get to recruit my 5*

If I quit, it'll be because of how boring the game has been to me. You can only run round the hamster wheel so many times before things get old. And they are quickly getting old and stale when every event is basically repeating the same thing ad infinitum.

It's hard to give up something that you've invested so much time and resources into. The simplest explanation refers to the sunk-cost fallacy(if I quit now, would it all have been for nothing?). The more complication explanation often involves emotional attachment to the game (I love my cards ;_Wink

I think you've missed the point of Abyss and others comment here. It's exactly the opposite of feeling entitled to something free, as you put it.

The point is that in fact you can work very hard or contribute in this game but then who the prize goes to in some cases comes down to too much random luck. Some people got two or five or even ten or more Zitas and no Alt, while another fairly new player I saw today got Alt on first run, as one example. Or the example of the card packs, that there is no credit of how much you've spent previously over a long period of time, or your level, or anything, so a level one player gets Ingrid (happened yesterday, I have a ss) while some have never pulled a single 6* or caught a lucky break.

Not suggesting it's easy to fix this, or that some amount of random shouldn't be in the game, but people are just expressing in this thread that it seems so extremely random that it can makes you feel frustrated and it seems in some cases, enough to make some good players want to quit.

Two other games I play have very smart ways of dealing with rewarding paying players while not giving things away. One of them (Valkyrie Crusade) has a system similar to step up packs in a way, you trade 120 "maiden tickets" that you obtain from ranking or quests for an "Ultimate summons ticket." You can also get maiden tickets from buying packs, you get 10 for each summon, but you cannot purchase ultimate summons tickets outright.   Ultimate summons are special because it grants you access to special cards you can't pull in regular summons. Each time you use an Ultimate summons ticket they give you a higher percentage chance of pulling an SR next time. So first time is no difference, next time is 11% higher chance, then 22%, 33% and so on until it reaches 100 percent chance. That way no one who works hard will be stuck without access to an SR card just because of their luck.

Another game I play (Devil Maker Tokyo) has a "mileage bar," which slowly fills up as you buy more packs or use free tickets provided from competing and questing,  and eventually guarantees you a 5* (currently the highest * rating in the game).

It should be noted that both of these games don't have a trade system, they are a card collecting game rather than trading card game. However, I really like the systems they have in place.

I am also not arguing the superiority or inferiority of any of the games to fanta, I just think their way of rewarding players is nice.

I see fanta trying to maybe change with their special summon tickets, and I think that if they used that in conjunction with a mileage bar they would give players a better sense of striving for something. I can see them maybe trying to do this with dream packs, but the amount of cards you can pull is so vast (especially with the 3*) I think it doesn't have the same impact.

One of my allies who has been on daily since I joined in February is going on hiatus for about a month due to being burned out trying to get Alt. Last ally I had that went on hiatus for a month(3 months ago) never came back after getting about as upset with an event as this one has.

If I didn't put so much time into this game I'd probably quit it. If I knew how this game would play out I would have never started it I was expecting odds like Marvel, or The Powerful for getting cards, and similar abilities to combine them.

For the record I'm very cheesed with only getting a Zita after how much time I had to waste grinding in that damn tower. Swear I spent 300 training points on one level half the time as I kept getting encounter after encounter that didn't give any progress.

I think fanta should put up some events that uses our brain cells than just endlessly grinding. But well that's how the company makes money. Need creativity to retain players. I'm heading to the exit door.

In fact, the more players have to keep sending info to them, the more resources it takes up.
So all these events that asks players to do something every 5~10 minutes? are actually consuming more of their resources than other games which players only need to play every few hours, or twice a day.

If they really want to make some money, they should increase the TP limit so that people don't need to come back every 30 minutes, but more like 3 hours, and have events that have quests with long cool down time like 2 hours, but are really hard to beat even with really nice units, that can serve pretty much the same purpose but their server load will be much lower.

Most of the other card games have a much higher limit in TP(or similar points).

This game tries to use the grinding every 5 mins to keep players addicted, but it also makes a lot of players feel boring and want to quit, at the same time really straining their server loads.
