Because the letter speeds don't correlate correctly between different unit types, in this case magic unit vs melee unit. If that's confusing, well, yes it is and its also bad game design from SS to list that way. Mages in partlicular are almost all listed D speed, but have varying speeds with some being very fast.

Not entirely a mistake, they just gave it an unclear label. The letter rating is actually the arena speed of the unit rather than the real speed.

Real speed can only be worked out with experiments like BKwiz is doing. There are some card encyclopedias that give the chinese approximation of attack delay but they are not 100% accurate.

BK, any updates?

I was bored so I started messing around with Belethi and a stop watch for about an hour. On quests with trains of mobs, I'm consistently getting attack speeds/swing timers of 1.3 - 1.35. I'm leaning towards thinking Belethi's attack speed is 1.3 since when I test it in comparison to Vlad, I seem to be a bit slow and get 1.6-1.68.

Tested unleadered (of course).

Edit: Messed around with Faith for about an hour today. My testing shows her attack speed at 1.5.

It's hard to keep the two of them constantly swinging at the same time, (they have a habit of one shotting things or knocking them out of range) but yeah, Monica does seem to very slowly pull ahead.

I don't know if this is possible for you, but wouldn't it be easier to just record your phone with a camera with a set fps and then review the video? For example, if it is shot at 30 fps, then you can advance the video one frame at a time to get very precise time measurements. Again, if this is possible for you Smile
