Do mailbox items stay for limited time? (ie 90 days)
Is there a limited number of items you can have in there?

no, inbox is not limited, both in storage and in keeping time. though you can only see the last 1000 item there.. so if you have more than 1000 item in your inbox then some if them wont be visible until you take some item from it to reduce the total item inside.
